Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a nutritionist and dietitian? +

All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians.

As a dietitian, I've completed a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Nutrition & Dietetics (5 years in total), which includes hands-on clinical training. This means I'm equipped to support people with chronic health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and PCOS — not just general healthy eating.

Nutritionist training, on the other hand, can vary significantly, anywhere from a 6-week course to a 3-year bachelor's degree.

As an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), I'm also eligible to provide Medicare-rebatable services. If you have a valid GP Management Plan, you may be able to claim through Medicare — or check with your private health insurer to see if dietitian consultations are included in your cover.
